From the lush Willamette Valley of Oregon, to the rolling hills of Tennessee, our story is one of bravery and beauty that beats the odds in a thousand ways.

My name is Anna Austin, aka, The Farmer's Wife. I’m the artist and official storyteller of the family. I am the author of any content that you see both here and on social media. I’d like to tell you our story....

Our story together starts in 2006 when Mark and I were 18 years old. Fresh out of high school, with shock and embarrassment, we learned that we were unexpectedly expecting our first baby. I was personally presented with “options,” but bravery is what allowed our son to be born in April of 2007.

3 more babies quickly followed. Mark and I fell in line with what we thought society wanted from us. Married, stay-at-home mom, 9-5 job for dad, and a little house in a little neighborhood all seemed to make us feel like we were normal.

Deep inside we knew there was more for us. Mark always had a passion for farming, and I for music. We were both involved in different ways with these passions but, the urge for growing and pursuing these things burned inside of us.

It’s hard to be brave when you feel like you don’t measure up in a lot of ways. That helpful college degree was always elusive, and no “real” history with farming or music often made the pursuit feel impossible. Not to mention the whole teenage parents thing.

Nevertheless, we began learning all we could about farming and homesteading, taking every opportunity to practice what was within our reach, starting with a few backyard chickens, then a little garden. I began flying to Nashville for music classes and conferences, eventually meeting what I now call, “my music tribe.”

The time came for us to seriously consider moving. Like we had practiced so many times before, we chose to be brave. We sold everything we had in Oregon and loaded up our family of 6 in February of 2021 to drive across the country and start a farm in Middle Tennessee, just south of Nashville.

The Lord led us to a 52 acre farm in the middle of nowhere with an old c1900 farmhouse that I’m sure we’ll be fixing up for years to come. We purchased a handful of cows and pigs and sheep, plus a lot more laying hens and meat chickens than we knew what to do with.

In just 1 years time, we have grown immensely in our skills and our knowledge, though there is always a mountain more to learn. We started selling our non-GMO pastured poultry and eggs at farmers markets where the demand for the products was more than we could keep up with.

We tripled our production in 2022. This website you’re on is also a new venture for us. We hope to do more online sales with pick up/drop off days in the future and eventually branch out into a subscription based shipping service.

Our life and our family is the most beautiful thing in the world to me. All the scary unknowns and impossible pursuits have been nothing but worth it for us.

Well... HARD and worth it.

We couldn’t have made it this far without amazing people, like yourself, supporting us. People that have pushed us to be better and purchased products from us before we were even established.

I would be amiss to not thank my Lord here as well. Every step of the way, through my doubt and tiniest bit of faith, He has made a path, time and time again, for our family to reach the next level - only by grace. There is nothing we can claim as our own here. It is all a gift, and one that we continuously offer back to Him in reverence and obedience.

We believe God has big things in store for our little family farm! We are excited that you have chosen to join us on our journey by being here on this website.
